I just brought a book about how people make political decisions based on their emotions, and not their intellect. I havn't read it yet but it seems very interesting. I think the thesis of this book is true, because it seems a lot of reasons why we rule out candidates have nothing to do with their policies, and everything to do with who they are, how they present themselves, and what they've done or not done in their life.

For instance, I think the character issue will be a huge downer for Hillary Clinton and well may cost her the nomination. Not necessarily her character (although she has some issues there certainly), but because of her husband's. For better or worse, he's baggage, and this is an example of people being irrational and making a decision based not on if the candidate would be a good president, but on whether the voter likes them as a person. Like it or not this is probably how the election will be decided.

On an unrelated note, I saw Mark Twain's "Is He Dead" tonight and it was excellent. I recommend it to anyone who has some free time.
